In clear violation of status quo arrangements at Masjid al-Aqsa, Jewish settlers performed last Wednesday a marriage ritual inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s old city, according to an Awqaf official.

Israeli police have so far barred non-Muslims from religious rituals during their tours of the site.

Firas Dibs, media official in the Awqaf, which is in charge of the Muslim holy sites and property in Jerusalem, said the Jewish fanatics performed the marriage ritual under the eyes of the Israeli police, who escort them on tours.

Police bar Awqaf officials and guards from intervening to stop violations by Jewish settlers of the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque and often arrest anyone who tries to stop them, or bans them from being in the walled compound for days and weeks.
