Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal, in October, opened the Jordan Broadcasters Association’s fifth conference entitled “Jerusalem in Media and Political Discourse.”
Abul Bassal said the conference supports the Awqaf Ministry
and its efforts in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that Jerusalem
and holy sites should always be part of the media discourse.
He added that Jerusalem is perceived from a religious point of view, based on what is stated in the Holy Quran, stressing that preserving the Al-Aqsa Mosque is no less important than preserving the Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.
He called for developing a comprehensive plan based on a unified discourse when addressing the issue of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He pointed out that the Hashemite custodianship has formed a force and protected Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
President of the Jordan Broadcasters Association, Mohammad Adaiylah said this conference has convened in light of pressure being put on Jordan due its firm stances on the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem.
