An extremist Israeli Jewish group called in March for Muslims to evacuate the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to let them carry out the Passover sacrifice.
The group posted notices at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque. “A call to the Muslim Jerusalemites,” the notice said. “Peace be upon you. We are the representatives of the Jewish people asking you to leave the Temple Mount [Jewish name for the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa] on 30 March 2018 at 6 am.” They explained that “The evacuation is aimed to let the Jews carry out the Jewish religious duty which is the Passover sacrifice at the Temple Mount.”
The extremist group slaughtered goats near the southern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a practice-run for the Passover sacrifice. That was the first time that such an activity had taken place so near to Al-Aqsa.
The Islamic Awqaf of Jerusalem denounced the activity, which was protected by the Israeli police. “This is the first time in history that such an activity has taken place in an absolute Islamic endowment property,” its statement said.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is subject to desecration and aggression by Jewish settlers on every day of the year.
