The acting speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, Ahmed Bahar, has said that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the core of the Palestinian struggle against Israel, adding that the Mosque is a place of worship for Muslims only.

In a press statement on Sunday, Bahar stressed that the Israeli attacks against Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitute part of a religious war waged by the Israeli government, adding that such attacks would flare up the situation in the region.

Bahar called on Muslim and Arab countries to assume their responsibility and protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Israeli Judaization plans.

He also called on international parliaments to support the issue of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and work towards ending normalization with Israel.

The 21st of August 2023 marks the 54th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Australian zealot, Denis Michael Rohan.
