Israeli colonial settlers stormed, on Wednesday morning, the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, while Israeli police arrested one of its guards from his workplace, inside the mosque.
Jerusalemite sources reported, according to Al Ray, that 24 settlers guarded by security forces stormed Al-Aqsa in the early morning hours, via the Moroccan Gate, and attempted to perform Talmudic rituals.
He was charged with obstructing police work and not obeying orders to stay away from the Jewish settlers.
He was later released on condition that he does not enter al-Aqsa for 15 consecutive days.
Jordan maintains the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Jerusalem Waqf and its staff are considered Jordanian government employees.
The Mosque guards are often banned from entering the compound for doing their duty by preventing fanatic settlers from violating conditions for visits by non-Muslims to the holy site that include holding religious rituals.
Fanatic settlers attempt to perform religious rituals in spite of the presence of Israeli police with them, prompting al-Aqsa guards to intervene to stop them. Police end up arresting the guards.
