Head of the Supreme Islamic Council and the Al Aqsa Mosque Preacher Sheikh Ikrima Sabri has confirmed that Qatar is playing a distinctive and memorable role in supporting the issue of Jerusalem and following-up the events that take place there in particular, and in Palestine in general.
In an interview with (Al-Sharq) Qatari newspaper issued Tuesday, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri said that the Israeli occupation is clearly greedy for Al-Aqsa Mosque and looking for opportunities to pounce upon by all means and in any circumstances.
He pointed out that this issue came after Muslims were preoccupied away from the city of Jerusalem, warning of the Israeli daily attacks which aim at changing the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Regarding the possibility of benefiting from the humanitarian funds in supporting Jerusalem issue, he explained that these funds will unite efforts in order to support the issue by all means, pointing out that such a move will have good results, and during two months they will meet to study projects related to various aspects, including education, health and housing.
Sheikh Ikrima also said that the city of Jerusalem comes on top of the priorities of the humanitarian funds, and under the care of Qatar’s wise leadership represented by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the government and people of Qatar.
He added that the Jerusalem is now occupied and besieged by the Israeli occupation forces, and therefore it needs all the support from Arab and Muslim brothers in all fields, especially in education, health, housing and the care of orphans and poor, and it also needs support from charities.
Head of the Supreme Islamic Council pointed out that Jerusalem Fund, which has been discussed in the Doha conference on humanitarian funds, is supported by all charity organizations in Qatar and other countries.
He said that the Palestinian people in general and people of Jerusalem in particular sacrificed for Al-Aqsa Mosque and rejected all schemes against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
About the intention of the new US President Donald Trump to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri confirmed that this is completely unacceptable for the Palestinians, the Arabs and Muslims.
